Citizens Housing and Planning Council
is a non-profit, public interest organization concerned with housing, planning
and urban development in New York City. Since its founding in 1937, CHPC
has been dedicated to the causes of sound housing for low- and moderate-income
families and rational, realistic and fair city planning. CHPC serves the
public as a watchdog, civic resource, educator and advocate of sound planning
and policies.
CHPC's board and membership include
experts from diverse fields: housing, urban planning, finance, architecture,
social work, education, community groups and civic organizations.
The Council is private, independent
and funded through contributions, special events and member support.
