online.

York Habitat - This
is a clean, well-designed website for those looking
for short and long-term furnished apartment rental options
in NYC (and elsewhere). They also offer a roommate share
service and Bed & Breakfast
listings, and provide neighborhood information.
- Rainbow
Roommates - Roommate
service for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and
GBLT-friendly people. $50-$100 for a one month subscription
to daily email updates of customized roommate listings
of available shares.
- Educational
Housing Services - Site
offers student housing in Brooklyn and Manhattan on a
semester basis.
- Urban
Living - Easy-to-use
site offers sublets throughout the city, searchable by
neighborhood, price and available date. If you find an
apartment through Urban Living, you will pay them a variable
fee.
- CraigsList - This
peer-to-peer site can connect you to sublets and roommates,
many without fees.
- Roommates.com - This
site offers a nationwide search of roommate situations,
including criteria such as roommmate gender and age,
and neighborhood. Basic membership is free and premium
membership packages vary in price.

St. Y - Typically
offers double rooms, with access to heath club and other
in-house facilities, on a monthly basis.
- YMCA-NYC -The
YMCA of Greater New York provides affordable, comfortable
guest rooms for travelers at eight branches.
- Hostelling
International- N.Y.C. - Manhattan
location of international hostelling organization attracts
many international visitors to its affordable domitory-style
lodging. Offers a variety of low-cost city activities.
